Microsoft Outlook missng "add as contact"

topic posted Tue, April 29, 2008 - 12:22 AM by  offlinecurmudgeon
After about four years of using Outlook Express, I switched over to Microsoft Outlook. Now I can't find a "Add as contact" button when I right click an email. I can't find it in the tool bar. I can add a contact from scratch, but not add someone automatically from a received email. Anyone had this happen before or know what its about?

All you have said holds true when I was using Outlook Express. Just doesn't seem to exist in the full Outlook program. I can add a contact by going to the contacts window and add a contact manually, just can't right click and get a "add as contact" button in the mail window, and it doesn't exist on the toolbar either. I was going to use the full Outlook program so I could use the calendar function, but if I have to add every contact manually, I'm just going back to Express.

OK, I opened the full window and finally got an Add as contact button. Didn't show in the preview pane. It was easier in Express. Thanks for the help.

I finally figured out that I had to highlight the Name/Email on the top of the message, in either the preview pane or the full message.. In Outlook express, I only had to highlight the message on the list.

Every version is different. My suggestion works in Outlook from MS Office 2007. Microsoft reminds me of my favorite movie joke.

A film director and studio executive once went scouting for a location for a new movie. Unfortunately, their vehicle broke down hundreds of miles from civilization. With no hope of rescue they wandered in the desert for days until upon death's door they happened on an oasis with fresh water and even date trees. Not only were they saved but they had found the perfect location shot for their film. After taking their ease the director turned to find the studio director pissing in the oasis.

Shocked and incredulous, the director exclaimed, "What the hell are you doing?"
"Oh.", replied the studio exec. "I was just improving it for you."
